Horse Fair

Post-war Horse Fairs in Lutowiska are open annual events, organised in the first weekend of July. The event relates to the times when Lutowiska was located in the heart of Poland, which had different borders. Here crossed the trading routes leading from Sanok to Siedmiogród and from Przemyśl through Użocka Pass to Użogród.

Because of such convenient location, in 1742 the king August III gave to Lutowiska the privilege of organising 10 trade fairs a year. The idea of this event is to continue former traditions, promoting the unique for this region cultural heritage, and enriching the local cultural offer for our visitors. Horse Fair in Lutowiska is very popular amongst the Bieszczady population and the summer visitors.

It is one of the few opportunities for the residents of the region to enjoy various cultural happenings in one place. The event is truly special due to its open character and rich repertoire of the presented attractions. It is one of the most important occasions for the people of Bieszczady, which integrates the community and gives a fantastic opportunity to the local artists to present their work, supporting the regional customs at the same time.

The event is strongly rooted in the cultural traditions of Bieszczady. In many ways it refers to the cultures of Ruthenians (Hutsuls, Lemkos and Boykos), who lived here for many centuries.
